1Then the angel who was talking with me came back. He woke me up, like a man who is woken from sleep. 2He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a lampstand made of solid gold. It has a bowl at the top. There are seven lamps on it, and there are seven spouts for the lamps. 3There are also two olive trees beside it. One is on the right side of the bowl. The other is on its left side." 4I asked the angel who was talking with me, "Sir, what are these?" 5The angel answered, "Don't you know what they are?" I said, "No, sir." 6So he said to me, "This is the LORD's message to Zerubbabel: 'It is not by strength or by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of Hosts. 7"What are you, you great mountain? In front of Zerubbabel you will become flat ground. Then he will bring out the top stone. People will shout, 'Grace, grace to it!'" 8Then the LORD gave me this message: 9"Zerubbabel's hands have laid the foundation of this house. His hands will also finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you. 10Who has looked down on the day of small beginnings? These seven eyes of the LORD look over the whole earth. They will be glad when they see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand." 11Then I asked the angel, "What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?" 12I asked him another question: "What are the two olive branches beside the two gold pipes? Golden oil pours out of those pipes." 13He asked, "Don't you know what these are?" I answered, "No, sir." 14So he said, "These are the two anointed ones. They stand beside the Lord of all the earth."
