1"Write this to the angel of the church in Ephesus: These are the words of the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand. He walks among the seven gold lampstands. 2I know what you do. I know how hard you work and how you keep going. I know you cannot put up with evil people. You have tested those who say they are apostles but are not. You found out they are liars. 3You have not given up. You have kept going and put up with many hard things because of my name. 4But I have this against you: You have left your first love. 5So remember how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you. I will take your lampstand from its place. 6But here is something good about you: You hate what the Nicolaitans do. I hate it too. 7Whoever has ears should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who wins, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life. It is in the Paradise of God. 8Write this to the angel of the church in Smyrna: These are the words of the First and the Last. He died and came back to life. 9I know your suffering and how poor you are. But you are rich! I know the evil things said about you by those who say they are Jews. But they are not. They are a synagogue of Satan. 10Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Listen! The devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. Be faithful, even if you have to die. Then I will give you the crown of life. 11Whoever has ears should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who wins will not be hurt by the second death. 12Write this to the angel of the church in Pergamum: These are the words of the one who holds the sharp sword with two edges. 13I know where you live. It is where Satan has his throne. Yet you hold on to my name. You did not deny your faith in me. You stayed true even when Antipas was killed. He was my faithful witness. He was killed in your city, where Satan lives. 14But I have a few things against you. Some of you hold to the teaching of Balaam. He taught Balak to set a trap for the Israelites, so they would eat food offered to idols and do sexual sin. 15In the same way, some of you also hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16So repent! If you don't, I will come to you soon. I will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17Whoever has ears should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who wins, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone. A new name will be written on it. No one will know that name except the one who gets it. 18Write this to the angel of the church in Thyatira: These are the words of the Son of God. His eyes are like a blazing fire. His feet are like shiny bronze. 19I know what you do. I know your love, your faith, your service, and how you keep going. And you are doing more now than you did at first. 20But I have this against you: You put up with that woman Jezebel. She calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she leads my servants astray. She leads them into sexual sin and to eat food offered to idols. 21I have given her time to repent of her sexual sin. But she will not. 22Look! I will throw her onto a bed of sickness. Those who commit adultery with her will suffer great trouble, unless they repent of her deeds. 23I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts. I will pay back each of you for what you have done. 24Now I speak to the rest of you in Thyatira. You do not hold to her teaching. You have not learned what some call the deep secrets of Satan. I will not put any other load on you. 25Just hold on to what you have until I come. 26To the one who wins and keeps doing my work to the end, I will give authority over the nations. 27He will rule them with an iron rod. He will smash them like clay pots. I have received this same authority from my Father. 28And I will give him the morning star. 29Whoever has ears should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.
