1For the choir leader. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A psalm of Asaph. A song.
We give thanks to you, God.
We give thanks, for your Name is near.
People tell about the wonderful things you have done. 2God says, "I choose the time.
Then I will judge fairly. 3The earth and all who live on it shake.
But I am the one who holds up its pillars. Selah 4I say to the proud, 'Do not brag.'
I say to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horn.a 5Do not lift up your horn against heaven.
Do not speak with your neck stuck out proudly.'" 6For honor does not come from the east or the west.
It does not come from the desert. 7But it is God who judges.
He brings one person down.
He lifts up another. 8For the LORD holds a cup in his hand.
It is full of foaming wine mixed with spices.
He pours from his cup.
All the wicked of the earth drink it down to the last drop. 9But I will tell about him forever.
I will sing praise to the God of Jacob. 10God says, "I will cut off all the horns of the wicked.
But the horns of those who are right with me will be lifted up."
Notes
- a 75:4 A horn was a picture of strength and pride.
