1For the choir leader. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.
God is known in Judah.
His name is great in Israel.
2His tent is in Salem.
His home is in Zion.
3There he broke the flaming arrows.
He broke the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah
4You shine with bright light.
You are more glorious than mountains full of wild animals.
5The brave soldiers have been robbed.
They sleep their last sleep.
None of the strong men could lift a hand.
6God of Jacob, when you spoke sharply,
both horse and rider lay still as if dead.
7You alone are to be feared.
Who can stand before you when you are angry?
8From heaven you announced your judgment.
The earth was afraid and was quiet
9when God rose up to judge.
He rose up to save all the humble people of the earth. Selah
10Even people's anger will praise you.
You will wear what is left of their anger like a belt.
11Make promises to the LORD your God, and keep them.
Let all the lands around him bring gifts
to the one who is to be feared.
12He breaks the pride of princes.
The kings of the earth fear him.
