1LORD, I have run to you for safety.
Never let me be put to shame. 2Because you are fair, rescue me and set me free.
Turn your ear to me and save me. 3Be my rock where I am safe.
Be a place I can always go.
Give the order to save me.
You are my rock and my fort. 4My God, save me from the power of the wicked.
Save me from the grip of cruel people who do wrong. 5For you are my hope, Lord GOD.
I have trusted you since I was young. 6I have leaned on you since I was born.
You brought me out of my mother's womb.
I will always praise you. 7Many people see me as a warning sign.
But you are my strong place of safety. 8My mouth is full of praise for you.
All day long I tell of your glory. 9Do not throw me away when I am old.
Do not leave me when my strength is gone. 10For my enemies speak against me.
Those who wait to kill me make plans together. 11They say, "God has left him.
Chase him and grab him,
for no one will save him." 12God, do not be far from me.
My God, hurry to help me. 13May those who accuse me be ashamed and destroyed.
May those who want to hurt me be covered with shame and disgrace. 14But I will always have hope.
I will praise you more and more. 15My mouth will tell of your righteousness.
All day long I will tell how you save,
though I cannot know how great they are. 16I will come in the strength of the Lord GOD.
I will tell about your righteousness, yours alone. 17God, you have taught me since I was young.
To this day I tell about the wonderful things you do. 18Even when I am old and gray, God, do not leave me,
until I tell the next generation about your power,
and all who are still to come about your might. 19God, your righteousness reaches up to the skies.
You have done great things.
God, who is like you? 20You have let me see many troubles and hard times.
But you will give me new life again.
You will bring me back up,
even from the deep places of the earth. 21You will give me more honor.
You will comfort me again. 22So I will praise you with the harp, my God,
because you are faithful.
I will sing praise to you with the lyre,
Holy One of Israel. 23When I sing praise to you, my lips will shout for joy.
My soul will shout too, for you have redeemed it. 24My tongue will surely tell of your righteousness all day long,
for those who want to hurt me are put to shame and confused.
