1Of Solomon.
God, give the king your fairness.
Give the king's son your righteousness.
2May he judge your people in the right way.
May he be fair to your poor and hurting people.
3May the mountains bring peace to the people.
May the hills bring what is right.
4May he stand up for the hurting people.
May he save the children of the needy.
May he crush the one who mistreats them.
5May people fear him as long as the sun shines.
May they fear him as long as the moon is there,
for all generations.
6May he be like rain that falls on fresh-cut grass.
May he be like spring showers that water the earth.
7May those who are right with God do well while he rules.
May there be plenty and peace
until the moon is gone.
8May he rule from sea to sea.
May he rule from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.
9May the people of the desert bow down to him.
May his enemies lick the dust.
10May the kings of Tarshish and faraway shores pay him tribute.
May the kings of Sheba and Seba bring him gifts.
11May all kings bow down to him.
May all nations serve him.
12For he will save the needy when they cry out.
He will save the hurting who have no one to help.
13He will feel sorry for the poor and needy.
He will save the lives of those who are mistreated.
14He will redeem them from cruel and violent people,
for their blood is precious to him.
15May he live a long time!
May gold from Sheba be given to him.
May people always pray for him.
May they bless him all day long.
16May there be plenty of grain in the land.
May it wave on the tops of the hills.
May its fruit trees grow strong like the forests of Lebanon.
May the people of its cities grow like the grass of the field.
17May his name last forever.
May his name go on as long as the sun shines.
May all nations be blessed through him.
May they call him blessed.
18Bless the LORD God, the God of Israel!
He alone does wonderful things.
19Bless his glorious name forever!
May all the earth be filled with his glory.
Amen and amen.
20This is the end of the prayers of David son of Jesse.
