1For the music leader. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A miktam of David. He wrote it when he ran away from Saul into the cave.
Have mercy on me, God, have mercy!
For my soul runs to you to be safe.
I will hide in the shadow of your wings
until the danger has passed. 2I cry out to God Most High,
to God who carries out his plan for me. 3He reaches down from heaven and saves me.
He scolds those who stomp on me. Selah
God sends out his faithful love and his truth. 4My soul is among lions.
I lie down among hungry wild animals.
They are men whose teeth are spears and arrows.
Their tongues are sharp swords. 5God, be lifted up above the heavens.
May your glory cover all the earth. 6They spread a net to catch my feet.
My soul was bowed down.
They dug a pit in front of me,
but they fell into it themselves! Selah 7My heart is firm, God.
My heart is firm.
I will sing and make music. 8Wake up, my glory!
Wake up, harp and lyre!
I will wake up the dawn. 9Lord, I will praise you among the nations.
I will sing your praises among the peoples. 10For your faithful love reaches to the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. 11God, be lifted up above the heavens.
May your glory cover all the earth.
