1Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 2"Someone may have a swelling, a rash, or a bright spot on his skin. It may be a skin disease that spreads. Then he must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons who is a priest. 3The priest must look closely at the sore on his skin. The hair in the sore may have turned white. The sore may seem deeper than the skin. If so, it is a skin disease. After the priest looks at him, he must say that the person is unclean. 4But the spot on his skin may be white and not seem deeper than the skin. The hair in it may not have turned white. Then the priest must keep the sick person apart for seven days. 5On the seventh day the priest must look at him again. He may see that the sore has not changed or spread on the skin. Then the priest must keep him apart for seven more days. 6On the seventh day the priest will look at him again. The sore may have faded and not spread on the skin. Then the priest must say that the person is clean. It is only a rash. The person must wash his clothes, and he will be clean. 7But he may have shown himself to the priest to be made clean, and then the rash spreads more on his skin. If so, he must show himself to the priest again. 8The priest will look at him again. If the rash has spread on the skin, the priest must say that he is unclean. It is a skin disease. 9When anyone gets a skin disease, he must be brought to the priest. 10The priest will look at him closely. There may be a white swelling on the skin that has turned the hair white. There may be raw flesh in the swelling. 11If so, it is a skin disease that has lasted a long time. The priest must say that he is unclean. The priest does not need to keep him apart, because he is already unclean. 12But the skin disease may break out all over his skin. It may cover all the skin of the sick person from head to foot, everywhere the priest can see. 13Then the priest must look at him. If the disease has covered his whole body, the priest must say that the person is clean. All of it has turned white, so he is clean. 14But any time raw flesh shows up on someone, he will be unclean. 15When the priest sees the raw flesh, he must say that the person is unclean. The raw flesh is unclean. It is a skin disease. 16But the raw flesh may change and turn white. Then the person must go to the priest. 17The priest will look at him again. If the sore has turned white, the priest must say that the sick person is clean. Then he is clean. 18Someone may have a boil on his skin, and it heals. 19Then a white swelling or a reddish-white spot may show up where the boil was. If so, he must show himself to the priest. 20The priest must look at it. It may seem to be under the skin, and the hair in it may have turned white. Then the priest must say that the person is unclean. It is a disease that has broken out in the boil. 21But the priest may look at it and find no white hair in it. It may not be under the skin, and it may have faded. Then the priest must keep the person apart for seven days. 22If it spreads any more on the skin, the priest must say that the person is unclean. It is a disease. 23But the spot may stay the same and not spread. Then it is only the scar from the boil. The priest must say that the person is clean. 24Someone may have a burn on his skin. The raw part of the burn may turn reddish-white or white. 25Then the priest must look at it. The hair in the spot may have turned white. The spot may seem deeper than the skin. If so, it is a disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest must say that the person is unclean. It is a disease. 26But the priest may look at it and find no white hair in the spot. It may not be under the skin, and it may have faded. Then the priest must keep the person apart for seven days. 27On the seventh day the priest must look at him again. If it has spread more on the skin, the priest must say that he is unclean. It is a disease. 28But the spot may stay the same and not spread on the skin, and it may have faded. Then it is a swelling from the burn. The priest must say that the person is clean. It is only the scar from the burn. 29A man or a woman may have a sore on the head or the chin. 30The priest must look at the sore. It may seem deeper than the skin. The hair in it may be yellow and thin. If so, the priest must say that the person is unclean. It is a scaly sore. It is a disease of the head or chin that spreads. 31But the priest may look at the scaly sore and find that it does not seem deeper than the skin. There may be no black hair in it. Then the priest must keep the sick person apart for seven days. 32On the seventh day the priest must look at the sore again. The scaly sore may not have spread. There may be no yellow hair in it. It may not seem deeper than the skin. 33If so, the person must shave himself, but not the scaly part. Then the priest must keep him apart for seven more days. 34On the seventh day the priest must look at the scaly sore. It may not have spread on the skin. It may not seem deeper than the skin. Then the priest must say that the person is clean. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean. 35But the scaly sore may spread more on the skin after he has been made clean. 36Then the priest must look at him. If the scaly sore has spread on the skin, the priest does not need to look for yellow hair. The person is unclean. 37But the priest may see that the scaly sore has not changed, and black hair has grown in it. Then it has healed. The person is clean, and the priest must say that he is clean. 38A man or a woman may have white spots on the skin. 39The priest must look at them. If the spots are a dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin. The person is clean. 40A man may lose his hair and be bald. He is still clean. 41Or his hair may go back from the front, so that he is bald on his forehead. He is still clean. 42But there may be a reddish-white sore on the bald head or forehead. Then it is a disease that spreads, breaking out there. 43The priest must look at him. He must see if the swelling of the sore on his bald head or forehead is reddish-white like a skin disease, 44If so, the man has a disease. He is unclean. The priest must say that he is unclean because of the sore on his head. 45A person with this disease must wear torn clothes. He must let his hair hang loose. He must cover his mouth and call out, 'Unclean, unclean!' 46As long as he has the sore, he stays unclean. He must live alone in a place outside the camp. 47Mildew may get into some cloth. It may be any piece of clothing made of wool or linen. 48It may be any woven or knitted cloth of linen or wool. It may be anything made of leather. 49The mark in the cloth, the leather, the woven or knitted cloth, or the leather item may be green or red. Then it has mildew in it. It must be shown to the priest. 50The priest must look at the mildew. He must keep the item with mildew apart for seven days. 51On the seventh day the priest must look at it again. The mildew may have spread in the cloth, the woven or knitted cloth, or the leather. If so, it is a harmful mildew, no matter what the item is used for. The item is unclean. 52He must burn the cloth, whether it is woven or knitted. He must burn it whether the item with mildew is wool, linen, or leather. The mildew is harmful, so the item must be burned up. 53But the priest may look at it again and see that the mildew has not spread. It has not spread in the cloth, the woven or knitted cloth, or the leather item. 54Then the priest must order that the item with mildew be washed. It must be kept apart for seven more days. 55After it has been washed, the priest must look at it again. The item with mildew may not look any different. Then it is unclean, even though the mildew has not spread. You must burn it. Burn it whether the rot is on the front or the back. 56But the priest may look at it and see that the mildew has faded after it was washed. Then he must cut that part out of the cloth, the leather, or the woven or knitted cloth. 57But the mildew may come back in the cloth, the woven or knitted cloth, or any leather item. If so, it is spreading. You must burn the item that has mildew. 58The mildew may go away from the cloth, the woven or knitted cloth, or any leather item after it is washed. Then it must be washed again, and it will be clean. 59This is the law about mildew in cloth made of wool or linen. It covers woven or knitted cloth and anything made of leather. It tells how to say whether these things are clean or unclean."
