1Then the LORD said to Moses, 2"Tell the Israelites this: 'A woman may become pregnant and give birth to a son. Then she will be unclean for seven days. It is the same as during her monthly period. 3On the eighth day, the boy must be circumcised. The skin of his foreskin is to be cut off. 4Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be made pure from her bleeding. She must not touch anything holy. She must not go into the sanctuary until her days of being made pure are over. 5But she may give birth to a daughter. Then the woman will be unclean for two weeks, the same as during her period. After that, she must wait sixty-six days to be made pure from her bleeding. 6Her days of being made pure for a son or a daughter will come to an end. Then she must bring some animals to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. She must bring a lamb a year old for a burnt offering. She must also bring a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering. 7The priest will offer them to the LORD and make atonement for her. Then she will be made clean from her flow of blood. This is the law for a woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. 8But she may not have enough money for a lamb. Then she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. One is for a burnt offering, and the other is for a sin offering. Then the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.'"
