1LORD, you are my God!
I will lift you high. I will praise your name.
You have done wonderful things.
You planned them long ago,
and you have been perfectly faithful. 2Yes, you have made the city a pile of rubble.
You have made the walled town a ruin.
The fortress of foreigners is not a city anymore.
It will never be built again. 3So a strong people will honor you.
The cities of cruel nations will fear you. 4For you have been a safe place for the poor.
You have been a fortress for the needy in their trouble.
You are a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of cruel people is like rain beating against a wall, 5like heat in a dry land.
You quiet the noise of foreigners.
The shade of a cloud cools the heat.
In the same way, the song of cruel people is silenced. 6On this mountain the LORD of Hosts will prepare a rich feast for all peoples.
It will be a feast of aged wine and the best meat,
of fine, aged wine. 7On this mountain he will swallow up the burial cloth
that covers all peoples.
He will swallow up the sheet that covers all nations. 8He will swallow up death forever.
The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face.
He will take away the shame of his people
from the whole earth.
The LORD has spoken. 9On that day people will say,
"This really is our God!
We waited for him, and he saved us.
This is the LORD we waited for.
Let's be happy and glad that he saved us." 10For the LORD's hand will rest on this mountain.
But Moab will be trampled where he stands,
like straw trampled into a manure pile. 11He will spread out his hands in it,
like a swimmer spreads his arms to swim.
But his pride will be brought down,
no matter how skilled his hands are. 12The fortress with high walls will be brought down.
It will be thrown to the ground, into the dust.
