¹I looked up again. I saw four chariots coming out from between two mountains. The mountains were made of bronze. ²The first chariot had red horses. The second had black horses. ³The third had white horses. The fourth had spotted horses. All of them were strong. ⁴So I asked the angel who was talking with me, "Sir, what are these?" ⁵The angel told me, "These are the four spirits of heaven. They are going out from where they stand before the Lord of all the earth. ⁶The chariot with the black horses is going toward the land of the north. The one with the white horses is going toward the west. The one with the spotted horses is going toward the south." ⁷The strong horses went out. They were eager to go and patrol the earth. The LORD said, "Go and patrol the earth." So they went all over the earth. ⁸Then the LORD called to me. He said, "Look, the ones going to the land of the north have given my Spirit rest in the land of the north." ⁹The LORD also gave me this message: ¹⁰"Take a gift from the exiles. Take it from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have come from Babylon. Go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah. ¹¹Take silver and gold and make a fancy crown. Put it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak. ¹²Tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: 'Here is a man whose name is the Branch. He will branch out from his place. He will build the temple of the LORD. ¹³Yes, he will build the temple of the LORD. He will be dressed in royal glory. He will sit on his throne and rule. He will be a priest on his throne. And there will be peace and agreement between the two.' ¹⁴The crown will stay in the temple of the LORD. It will help people remember Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and the kind son of Zephaniah. ¹⁵Even people who live far away will come and build the temple of the LORD. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you. This will happen if you carefully obey the voice of the LORD your God."
