1Look, a day of the LORD is coming. On that day the things taken from you will be divided up right in front of you. 2For I will gather all the nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be captured. The houses will be robbed, and the women will be raped. Half of the city will be taken away as captives. But the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. 3Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations. He will fight as he does on a day of battle. 4On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives will split in two from east to west. It will make a huge valley. Half of the mountain will move to the north, and half will move to the south. 5You will run away through my mountain valley, because it will reach all the way to Azal. You will run away like you ran from the earthquake when Uzziah was king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones will be with him. 6On that day there will be no light. There will be no cold or frost. 7It will be one special day that only the LORD knows. There will be no day or night. But when evening comes, there will be light. 8On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem. Half of it will flow east to the Dead Sea. The other half will flow west to the Mediterranean Sea. It will flow in summer and in winter.a 9On that day the LORD will be King over the whole earth. The LORD will be the only one, and his name will be the only name. 10All the land from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become flat land. But Jerusalem will be lifted up high. It will stay in its place. It will reach from the Benjamin Gate to where the First Gate was, and on to the Corner Gate. It will reach from the Tower of Hananel to the king's winepresses. 11People will live there. It will never be completely destroyed again. Jerusalem will be safe. 12This is the sickness the LORD will strike on all the peoples who fought against Jerusalem. Their flesh will rot while they are still standing. Their eyes will rot in their heads. Their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13On that day the LORD will fill them with great panic. Each one will grab another's hand. They will raise their hands to fight each other. 14Judah will also fight at Jerusalem. The riches of all the nations around will be gathered up. There will be huge amounts of gold, silver, and clothing. 15The same kind of sickness will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys. It will strike all the animals in those camps. 16Then all the people who are left from the nations that attacked Jerusalem will go up there every year. They will go to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts. They will go to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 17Some of the families of the earth may not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts. If so, no rain will fall on them. 18The people of Egypt may not go up and come in. If so, no rain will fall on them. The LORD will strike them with the sickness he uses on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 19This will be the punishment of Egypt. It will be the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 20On that day the words HOLY TO THE LORD will be written on the bells of the horses. The cooking pots in the house of the LORD will be like the sprinkling bowls in front of the altar. 21Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD of Hosts. All who offer sacrifices will come and take some of the pots and cook in them. On that day there will no longer be any Canaanite in the house of the LORD of Hosts.b
