1"On that day a fountain will be opened for David's family and the people of Jerusalem. It will wash them clean from sin and uncleanness. 2On that day," says the LORD of Hosts, "I will wipe out the names of the idols from the land. No one will remember them anymore. I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land. 3If anyone still prophesies, his own father and mother will say to him, 'You must die, because you have told lies in the name of the LORD.' When he prophesies, his own father and mother will stab him. 4On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a prophet's hairy cloak to trick people. 5He will say, 'I am not a prophet. I am a farmer. I was bought as a servant when I was young.' 6Someone may ask him, 'What are these wounds on your chest?' He will answer, 'I got these wounds at the house of my friends.' 7"Wake up, sword, against my Shepherd!
Attack the man who is close to me," says the LORD of Hosts.
"Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.
I will turn my hand against the little ones. 8In the whole land," says the LORD,
"two-thirds of the people will be cut off and die.
But one-third will be left in it. 9I will bring this third through the fire.
I will make them pure like silver.
I will test them like gold.
They will call on my name, and I will answer them.
I will say, 'They are my people.'
And they will say, 'The LORD is our God.'"
