1But as for you, teach what fits with true teaching. 2Teach the older men to think clearly and be worthy of respect. They should have self-control. They should be strong in faith, in love, and in keeping on. 3In the same way, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not tell lies about others or be slaves to too much wine. They should teach what is good. 4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children. 5They can train them to have self-control and be pure. They can teach them to take care of their homes and be kind. They can teach them to submit to their own husbands. Then no one will speak badly of God's word. 6In the same way, urge the younger men to have self-control. 7In everything, be an example by doing good works. When you teach, be honest and serious. 8Use healthy words that no one can find fault with. Then anyone who is against us will be ashamed. They will have nothing bad to say about us. 9Slaves should submit to their own masters in everything. They should try to please them and not talk back. 10They must not steal from them. Instead, they should show that they can be fully trusted. Then in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior look beautiful. 11For the grace of God has appeared. It brings salvation to all people. 12It teaches us to say no to living without God. It teaches us to say no to the evil desires of this world. It teaches us to live wise, right, and godly lives in this present time. 13We do this while we wait for the blessed hope. We wait for the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. 14He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness. He did it to make us pure and to make us his very own people, who are eager to do good. 15Teach these things. Encourage and correct people with all authority. Don't let anyone look down on you.
