1After this I looked, and there in heaven was an open door. I heard the voice that had spoken to me before, like a trumpet. It said, "Come up here. I will show you what must happen after this." 2Right away I was in the Spirit. I saw a throne in heaven, and someone was sitting on it. 3The one sitting there shone like jasper and carnelian stones. A rainbow that glowed like an emerald circled the throne. 4Around the throne were twenty-four other thrones. On these thrones sat twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. 5Flashes of lightning, rumbling sounds, and claps of thunder came from the throne. In front of the throne seven torches of fire were burning. These are the seven spirits of God. 6In front of the throne was something like a sea of glass, as clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures. They were covered with eyes in front and in back. 7The first living creature was like a lion. The second was like a calf. The third had a face like a man. The fourth was like an eagle flying. 8Each of the four living creatures had six wings. Each was covered with eyes all around and inside. Day and night they never stop saying:
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.
He was, and he is, and he is to come!" 9The living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the one sitting on the throne, who lives forever and ever. Whenever they do, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before the one sitting on the throne. They worship him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns down before the throne and say: 11"You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you made all things.
Because you willed it, they exist and were made."
