1For the choir leader. To the tune of "The Death of the Son." A psalm of David.
I will thank the LORD with all my heart.
I will tell about all the amazing things you have done.
2I will be glad and full of joy in you.
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
3When my enemies turn back,
they trip and perish before you.
4For you have stood up for me when I was in the right.
You sit on your throne and judge fairly.
5You have scolded the nations.
You have destroyed the wicked.
You have wiped out their name forever and ever.
6The enemy is ruined forever.
You have pulled up their cities by the roots.
Even the memory of them is gone.
7But the LORD rules forever.
He has set up his throne to judge.
8He judges the world with justice.
He rules the people fairly.
9The LORD is a safe place for those who are treated badly.
He is a strong tower in times of trouble.
10Those who know your name trust in you.
For you, LORD, have not forsaken those who look for you.
11Sing praises to the LORD, who lives in Zion.
Tell the nations what he has done.
12For the God who pays back murder remembers.
He does not ignore the cry of those who suffer.
13Be kind to me, LORD.
See how my enemies hurt me!
Lift me up from the gates of death,
14so that I may tell all your praises,
so that inside the gates of Daughter Zion
I may be glad that you saved me.
15The nations have fallen into the pit they dug.
Their feet are caught in the net they hid.
16The LORD is known by the justice he brings.
The wicked are trapped by what their own hands have done.
Higgaion. Selaha
17The wicked will go back to the grave.
So will all the nations that forget God.b
18For the needy will not always be forgotten.
The hope of the poor will not be crushed forever.
19Get up, LORD! Do not let man win.
Let the nations be judged in front of you.
20Fill them with terror, LORD.
Let the nations know they are only men.
Selah
