1For the choir leader. By the Gittith. A psalm of David.
LORD, our Lord, how great is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.a
2You have made children and babies speak your praise.
You did it because of your enemies,
to silence the enemy and the one who wants revenge.
3When I look at your heavens, which your fingers made,
the moon and the stars, which you set in place,
4what is man that you think about him?
What is the son of man that you care for him?
5You made him a little lower than the angels.
You put glory and honor on him like a crown.
6You made him ruler over what your hands made.
You put everything under his feet:
7all sheep and cattle,
and even the wild animals,
8the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9LORD, our Lord,
how great is your name in all the earth!
