1A psalm of David, when he was in the desert of Judah.
God, you are my God.
I look for you with all my heart.
My soul is thirsty for you.
My body longs for you
in a dry and tired land with no water.
2So I have seen you in your holy place.
I have seen your power and your glory.
3Your faithful love is better than life.
So my lips will praise you.
4So I will bless you as long as I live.
I will lift up my hands in your name.
5My soul is full, as if I ate the richest food.
My mouth will praise you with happy lips.
6When I remember you on my bed,
I think of you all through the night.
7For you are my help.
I will sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8My soul holds on to you.
Your right hand holds me up.
9But some people want to kill me.
They will go down into the deep places of the earth.
10They will be killed by the sword.
They will become food for foxes.
11But the king will be glad in God.
All who make promises in his name will cheer,
for the mouths of liars will be shut.
