1For the choir leader. To be played with flutes. A psalm of David.
LORD, listen to my words.
Think about my groaning. 2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God.
For I pray to you. 3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice.
At sunrise I bring my request to you.
Then I wait and watch for your answer. 4For you are not a God who is pleased with evil.
No evil can live with you. 5Proud people cannot stand before you.
You hate all who do wrong. 6You destroy those who tell lies.
The LORD hates a man who kills and tricks people. 7But because of your great and faithful love,
I will come into your house.
With deep respect I will bow down toward your holy temple. 8LORD, lead me in your righteousness,
because I have enemies.
Make your way straight in front of me. 9For not one word they say can be trusted.
They are full of plans to destroy.
Their throats are open graves.
Their tongues tell lies. 10God, declare them guilty.
Let them fall because of their own plans.
Drive them out for their many sins,
for they have turned against you. 11But let all who run to you to be safe be glad.
Let them always shout for joy.
Cover them with your care,
so those who love your name may be glad in you. 12For you surely bless those who are right with you, LORD.
Your kindness is like a shield all around them.
