1A psalm of David. He wrote it when he ran away from his son Absalom.
LORD, I have so many enemies!
So many people rise up against me!
2Many people say about me,
"God will not save him."
Selah
3But you, LORD, are a shield all around me.
You are my glory.
You are the One who lifts up my head.
4I cry out loud to the LORD.
He answers me from his holy mountain.
Selah
5I lie down and sleep.
I wake up again, for the LORD keeps me going.
6I will not be afraid of the many thousands
who are set against me on every side.
7Get up, LORD! Save me, my God!
Hit all my enemies on the jaw.
Break the teeth of the wicked.
8Salvation belongs to the LORD.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah
