1For the choir leader. A psalm of David.
LORD, the king is glad because you are strong.
He is so full of joy because you saved him!
2You have given him what his heart wanted.
You have not held back what he asked for.
Selah
3You came to meet him with rich blessings.
You put a crown of pure gold on his head.
4He asked you for life, and you gave it to him.
You gave him long life, forever and ever.
5He has great glory because you saved him.
You give him honor and greatness.
6For you give him blessings forever.
You make him glad with the joy of being with you.
7For the king trusts in the LORD.
The Most High's faithful love will keep him from being shaken.
8Your hand will catch all your enemies.
Your right hand will grab those who hate you.
9When you appear, you will put them in a burning furnace.
In his anger the LORD will swallow them up.
The fire will burn them up.
10You will wipe their children off the earth.
You will remove their families from among people.
11They plan to hurt you.
But the evil plans they make will not work.
12For you will make them turn and run
when you aim your bow at them.
13Be honored as great, LORD, in your strength.
We will sing and praise your power.
