PsalmsChapter 2

1Why are the nations so angry?
Why do the peoples make plans that will fail? 2The kings of the earth take their stand.
The rulers gather together.
They stand against the LORD and against his Anointed One. 3They say, "Let's break their chains.
Let's throw off their ropes." 4The One who sits on his throne in heaven laughs.
The Lord makes fun of them. 5Then he scolds them in his anger.
He fills them with fear in his great rage. 6He says, "I have set my King on Zion,
on my holy mountain." 7I will announce what the LORD has said to me.
He said, "You are my Son.
Today I have become your Father. 8Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your share.
The ends of the earth will be yours. 9You will break them with an iron scepter.
You will smash them like clay pots." 10So be wise, you kings.
Be warned, you judges of the earth. 11Serve the LORD with fear.
Be glad, and tremble too. 12Kiss the Son, or he will be angry,
and you will perish in your rebellion,
when his anger flares up in a moment.
Blessed are all who run to him to be safe.
