1A psalm of David.
LORD, hear my prayer.
You are faithful, so listen to my plea.
You are righteous, so answer me.
2Do not bring your servant to trial,
for no one alive is right in your sight.
3For the enemy has chased my soul.
He has crushed my life to the ground.
He makes me live in darkness
like people who died long ago.
4My spirit grows weak inside me.
My heart is full of fear inside me.
5I remember the days of long ago.
I think deeply about all you have done.
I think about the work of your hands.
6I stretch out my hands to you.
My soul thirsts for you like a dry land.
Selah
7Answer me quickly, LORD.
My spirit is giving out.
Do not hide your face from me,
or I will be like those who go down to the Pit.
8Let me hear of your faithful love in the morning,
for I have put my trust in you.
Teach me the way I should walk,
for I lift up my soul to you.
9LORD, save me from my enemies.
I run to you to be safe.
10Teach me to do what you want,
for you are my God.
May your good Spirit lead me
on level ground.
11LORD, for the sake of your name, give me new life.
You are righteous, so bring my soul out of trouble.
12In your faithful love, cut off my enemies.
Destroy all who hurt me,
for I am your servant.
