1Of David.
Praise the LORD, my Rock.
He trains my hands for war
and my fingers for battle. 2He is my faithful love and my fortress.
He is my strong tower and the one who saves me.
He is my shield, and I run to him for safety.
He puts peoples under my rule. 3LORD, what is man, that you care about him?
What is a son of man, that you think about him? 4Man is like a breath.
His days are like a shadow that passes by. 5LORD, open up your heavens and come down.
Touch the mountains so that they smoke. 6Send out your lightning and scatter them.
Shoot your arrows and make them run away. 7Reach down from on high.
Set me free and rescue me from the deep waters.
Save me from the grip of foreigners. 8Their mouths tell lies.
Their right hands cheat. 9God, I will sing a new song to you.
I will make music to you on a harp with ten strings. 10I sing to the one who gives kings the victory,
who sets his servant David free from the deadly sword. 11Set me free and rescue me
from the grip of foreigners.
Their mouths tell lies.
Their right hands cheat. 12Then our sons will be like young plants
that grow up strong.
Our daughters will be like corner pillars,
carved to make a palace beautiful. 13Our storehouses will be full
with every kind of crop.
Our flocks will have thousands of lambs,
tens of thousands in our fields. 14Our oxen will pull heavy loads.
There will be no break in our walls.
No one will be taken away as a captive.
No cry of sorrow will be heard in our streets. 15Blessed are the people for whom this is true.
Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
