1A psalm of David.
LORD, I call to you. Come to me quickly!
Listen to my voice when I call to you. 2May my prayer come before you like incense.
May my lifted hands be like the evening offering. 3LORD, set a guard over my mouth.
Keep watch at the door of my lips. 4Do not let my heart be drawn to anything evil.
Do not let me join in wicked deeds
with men who do wrong.
Do not let me eat their fine foods. 5Let a man who does what is right strike me.
Let his correction be an act of faithful love.
It is like oil on my head.
Do not let me refuse it.
For I keep praying against the deeds of the wicked. 6When their rulers are thrown down from the cliffs,
the people will listen to my words,
for they are pleasant. 7Like when someone plows and breaks up the ground,
our bones have been scattered
at the mouth of the grave.a 8But my eyes are fixed on you, Lord GOD.
I run to you for safety.
Do not leave my soul without protection. 9Keep me from the traps they have set for me,
and from the snares of those who do evil. 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
while I pass by safely.
