1Give thanks to the LORD. Call on his name.
Tell the nations what he has done. 2Sing to him. Sing praises to him.
Tell about all his wonders. 3Be proud of his holy name.
Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD be glad. 4Look to the LORD and his strength.
Seek his face always. 5Remember the wonders he has done.
Remember his amazing acts
and the judgments he has spoken, 6you children of his servant Abraham,
you sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. 7He is the LORD our God.
His judgments reach all over the earth. 8He remembers his covenant forever.
He remembers the promise he made for a thousand generations. 9It is the covenant he made with Abraham
and the promise he swore to Isaac. 10He made it firm for Jacob as a law.
He made it firm for Israel as a covenant that lasts forever. 11He said, "I will give you the land of Canaan.
It will be your share to own." 12At that time there were only a few of them.
They were very few, and they were strangers in the land. 13They wandered from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another. 14He let no one treat them badly.
He warned kings to leave them alone: 15"Do not touch my anointed ones!
Do not harm my prophets!" 16He called for a famine on the land.
He cut off all their food supply. 17He sent a man ahead of them.
It was Joseph, who was sold as a slave. 18They hurt his feet with chains.
They put an iron collar around his neck. 19This lasted until what he said came true.
The word of the LORD proved he was right. 20The king sent for him and let him go.
The ruler of peoples set him free. 21He made Joseph master of his house.
He put him in charge of all he owned. 22Joseph could order the king's princes as he wanted.
He could teach the king's leaders wisdom. 23Then Israel came into Egypt.
Jacob lived in the land of Ham. 24The LORD made his people grow in number.
He made them more than their enemies. 25He turned the hearts of their enemies to hate his people.
They made evil plans against his servants. 26He sent Moses his servant.
He sent Aaron, whom he had chosen. 27They did his miracles among the Egyptians.
They did wonders in the land of Ham. 28He sent darkness, and it became dark.
But they fought against his words. 29He turned their waters into blood.
He made their fish die. 30Their land was crawling with frogs,
even in the rooms of their kings. 31He spoke, and bugs came in swarms.
Gnats filled their whole country. 32He sent them hail instead of rain.
He sent lightning all over their land. 33He struck their grapevines and fig trees.
He broke down the trees of their country. 34He spoke, and the locusts came.
There were more young locusts than anyone could count. 35They ate up every plant in their land.
They ate the crops of their fields. 36Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land.
They were the firstfruits of all their strength. 37He brought Israel out with silver and gold.
No one in his tribes stumbled. 38Egypt was glad when they left,
because the Egyptians had become afraid of Israel. 39He spread out a cloud to cover them.
He gave a fire to light up the night. 40They asked, and he brought quail.
He filled them with bread from heaven. 41He opened a rock, and water poured out.
It flowed like a river in the desert. 42For he remembered his holy promise
to Abraham his servant. 43He brought his people out with joy.
His chosen ones came out with shouts of joy. 44He gave them the lands of the nations.
They took over what others had worked for. 45He did this so they would keep his rules
and obey his laws.
Hallelujah!
