1This is the list of the journeys of the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. They marched in their groups, led by Moses and Aaron. 2The LORD told Moses to write down each stage of their journey, and he did. Here are the stages, listed by the places they started from: 3The Israelites left Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month. It was the day after the Passover. They marched out boldly while all the Egyptians watched. 4The Egyptians were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them. For the LORD had brought judgment on their gods. 5The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth. 6They left Succoth and camped at Etham, at the edge of the wilderness. 7They left Etham and turned back to Pi-hahiroth, across from Baal-zephon. They camped near Migdol. 8They left Pi-hahiroth and passed through the sea into the wilderness. They traveled three days into the Wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah. 9They left Marah and came to Elim. There were 12 springs and 70 palm trees there, and they camped there. 10They left Elim and camped by the Red Sea. 11They left the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin. 12They left the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah. 13They left Dophkah and camped at Alush. 14They left Alush and camped at Rephidim. There was no water there for the people to drink. 15They left Rephidim and camped in the Wilderness of Sinai. 16They left the Wilderness of Sinai and camped at Kibroth-hattaavah. 17They left Kibroth-hattaavah and camped at Hazeroth. 18They left Hazeroth and camped at Rithmah. 19They left Rithmah and camped at Rimmon-perez. 20They left Rimmon-perez and camped at Libnah. 21They left Libnah and camped at Rissah. 22They left Rissah and camped at Kehelathah. 23They left Kehelathah and camped at Mount Shepher. 24They left Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah. 25They left Haradah and camped at Makheloth. 26They left Makheloth and camped at Tahath. 27They left Tahath and camped at Terah. 28They left Terah and camped at Mithkah. 29They left Mithkah and camped at Hashmonah. 30They left Hashmonah and camped at Moseroth. 31They left Moseroth and camped at Bene-jaakan. 32They left Bene-jaakan and camped at Hor-haggidgad. 33They left Hor-haggidgad and camped at Jotbathah. 34They left Jotbathah and camped at Abronah. 35They left Abronah and camped at Ezion-geber. 36They left Ezion-geber and camped at Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin. 37They left Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, at the edge of the land of Edom. 38The LORD told Aaron the priest to climb Mount Hor, and he did. He died there on the first day of the fifth month. It was the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of Egypt. 39Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor. 40Now the Canaanite king of Arad heard that the Israelites were coming. He lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan. 41The Israelites left Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah. 42They left Zalmonah and camped at Punon. 43They left Punon and camped at Oboth. 44They left Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim, on the border of Moab. 45They left Iyim and camped at Dibon-gad.a 46They left Dibon-gad and camped at Almon-diblathaim. 47They left Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim, facing Nebo. 48They left the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab. They were by the Jordan River, across from Jericho. 49There on the plains of Moab, they camped by the Jordan. Their camp stretched from Beth-jeshimoth to Abel-shittim. 50The LORD spoke to Moses on the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho. He said, 51"Speak to the Israelites and tell them this. You will cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan. 52When you do, you must drive out all the people who live in the land. Destroy all their carved idols and metal idols. Tear down all their high places of worship. 53Take over the land and live in it, for I have given you the land to own. 54Divide the land among your clans by casting lots. Give a larger share to a larger clan and a smaller share to a smaller clan. Whatever land the lot gives to each one will be his. You will get your shares by the tribes of your fathers. 55But suppose you don't drive out the people who live in the land. Then those you let stay will be like sharp hooks in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will cause you trouble in the land where you live. 56And then I will do to you what I planned to do to them."
