1Then the LORD said to Moses, 2"Give the Israelites this command. Tell them this. You are going into the land of Canaan. It will be given to you as your own land, and these will be its borders. 3Your southern border will start at the Wilderness of Zin and run along the border of Edom. On the east, your southern border will start at the end of the Salt Sea. 4It will cross south of the Ascent of Akrabbim and go on to Zin. It will pass south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it will go on to Hazar-addar and on to Azmon. 5From Azmon it will turn and join the Brook of Egypt. It will end at the Sea. 6Your western border will be the coast of the Great Sea. This will be your border on the west. 7Your northern border will run from the Great Sea straight to Mount Hor. 8From Mount Hor it will go to Lebo-hamath. Then it will reach to Zedad. 9It will go on to Ziphron and end at Hazar-enan. This will be your border on the north. 10Your eastern border will run straight from Hazar-enan to Shepham. 11Then it will go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain. It will go on along the hillsides east of the Sea of Chinnereth. 12Then the border will go down along the Jordan River and end at the Salt Sea. This will be your land, with its borders on every side." 13So Moses gave this command to the Israelites. "Divide this land by casting lots. It will be your land to pass down. The LORD has commanded that it be given to the nine and a half tribes. 14For the tribes of Reuben and Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have already been given their land. 15These two and a half tribes have their land across the Jordan from Jericho. It is to the east, where the sun rises." 16Then the LORD said to Moses, 17"Here are the names of the men who will give out the land to you as your own. They are Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun. 18Also choose one leader from each tribe to help divide the land. 19Here are their names. From the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh. 20From the tribe of Simeon, Shemuel son of Ammihud. 21From the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Chislon. 22From the tribe of Dan, the leader Bukki son of Jogli. 23From the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, the leader Hanniel son of Ephod. 24From the tribe of Ephraim, the leader Kemuel son of Shiphtan. 25From the tribe of Zebulun, the leader Eli-zaphan son of Parnach. 26From the tribe of Issachar, the leader Paltiel son of Azzan. 27From the tribe of Asher, the leader Ahihud son of Shelomi. 28And from the tribe of Naphtali, the leader Pedahel son of Ammihud." 29These are the men the LORD commanded to give out the land to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
