1These are the men who put their seal on the agreement: Nehemiah the governor, son of Hacaliah, and also Zedekiah, 2Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah, 3Pashhur, Amariah, Malchijah, 4Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch, 5Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, 6Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch, 7Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin, 8Maaziah, Bilgai, and Shemaiah. These were the priests. 9These were the Levites: Jeshua son of Azaniah, Binnui from the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel, 10and the Levites who worked with them: Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, 11Mica, Rehob, Hashabiah, 12Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, 13Hodiah, Bani, and Beninu. 14These were the leaders of the people: Parosh, Pahath-moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani, 15Bunni, Azgad, Bebai, 16Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin, 17Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur, 18Hodiah, Hashum, Bezai, 19Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, 20Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, 21Meshezabel, Zadok, Jaddua, 22Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, 23Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub, 24Hallohesh, Pilha, Shobek, 25Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah, 26Ahijah, Hanan, Anan, 27Malluch, Harim, and Baanah. 28"Now here are the rest of the people: the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants. They include all who have separated themselves from the peoples of the land to obey the Law of God. They also include their wives and all their sons and daughters who are old enough to understand. 29All of them now join their brothers, the nobles. They swear an oath and promise to follow the Law of God that he gave through his servant Moses. They promise to carefully obey all the commands, rules, and laws of the LORD our Lord. 30We will not let our daughters marry the peoples of the land. We will not take their daughters as wives for our sons. 31If the peoples of the land bring goods or any kind of grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not buy from them on a Sabbath or on any holy day. Every seventh year we will let the fields rest and not plant them. And we will cancel every debt. 32We also promise to give a third of a shekel each year. It will pay for the work of the house of our God.a 33It will pay for the bread set out before God. It will pay for the daily grain offerings and burnt offerings. It will pay for the Sabbath offerings, the New Moon offerings, and the offerings at the set feasts. It will pay for the holy offerings and the sin offerings that make atonement for Israel. It will pay for all the work of the house of our God. 34We have cast lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people. The lots decide when each family will bring wood at the set times each year. They must bring it to the house of our God. It will burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the Law. 35Every year we will also bring the firstfruits of our crops and of every fruit tree to the house of the LORD. 36We will bring our firstborn sons and the firstborn of our animals, as it is written in the Law. We will bring the firstborn of our cattle and our flocks to the house of our God. We will bring them to the priests who serve there. 37We will also bring the first of our dough and our grain offerings to the priests. We will bring the first of the fruit of all our trees, our new wine, and our olive oil. We will bring them to the storerooms of the house of our God. A tenth of our crops belongs to the Levites. So the Levites will collect these tenths in all the towns where we work. 38A priest from Aaron's family must go with the Levites when they collect the tenth. Then the Levites must bring a tenth of what they collect to the house of our God. They will put it in the storerooms of the treasury. 39For the Israelites and the Levites must bring their gifts of grain, new wine, and olive oil to the storerooms. That is where the things used in the holy place are kept. It is also where the priests who serve, the gatekeepers, and the singers stay. So we will not neglect the house of our God."
