1In the last days, the mountain of the LORD's house
will be set up as the highest of the mountains.
It will be raised above the hills.
Peoples will stream to it. 2Many nations will come and say,
"Come, let's go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so we can walk in his paths."
For the law will go out from Zion.
The word of the LORD will go out from Jerusalem. 3He will judge between many peoples.
He will settle arguments for strong nations near and far.
They will hammer their swords into plows.
They will hammer their spears into pruning tools.
Nation will no longer pick up the sword against nation.
They will not train for war anymore. 4Each person will sit under his own grapevine
and under his own fig tree.
No one will make him afraid.
For the LORD of Hosts has spoken. 5All the nations may walk in the name of their gods.
But we will walk in the name of the LORD our God
forever and ever. 6"On that day," declares the LORD,
"I will gather the lame.
I will bring together those who were driven away,
even those I have made to suffer. 7I will make the lame into a people who remain.
I will make those driven away into a strong nation.
Then the LORD will rule over them on Mount Zion
from that day on and forever. 8And you, watchtower of the flock,
you fort of the Daughter of Zion,
your power from before will come back to you.
The right to rule will come to the Daughter of Jerusalem." 9Why are you crying out loud now?
Don't you have a king?
Has your adviser died?
Is that why pain grips you like a woman giving birth? 10Twist in pain, Daughter of Zion,
like a woman giving birth.
For now you will leave the city
and camp out in the open fields.
You will go to Babylon.
There you will be rescued.
There the LORD will redeem you
from the power of your enemies! 11But now many nations have gathered against you.
They say, "Let her be made unclean!
Let's stare at Zion and enjoy it!" 12But they don't know what the LORD is thinking.
They don't understand his plan.
He has gathered them like bundles of grain
to the threshing floor. 13Get up and thresh, Daughter of Zion!
For I will give you horns of iron.
I will give you hooves of bronze.
You will crush many peoples to pieces.
Then you will give what they took to the LORD.
You will give their riches to the Lord of all the earth.
