MicahChapter 3

1Then I said:
"Listen, you leaders of Jacob,
you rulers of the family of Israel.
Shouldn't you know what justice is?
2You hate good and love evil.
You tear the skin off my people.
You strip the flesh from their bones.
3You eat the flesh of my people.
You strip off their skin and break their bones.
You chop them up like meat for the cooking pot,
like meat in a big kettle."
4Then they will cry out to the LORD,
but he will not answer them.
At that time he will hide his face from them
because of the evil they have done.
5This is what the LORD says about the prophets
who lead my people the wrong way:
"When they have something to chew on,
they say, 'Peace!'
But if someone does not feed them,
they declare war against him.
6So night will come over you, and you will have no visions.
Darkness will come, and you will not be able to tell the future.
The sun will go down on these prophets.
The day will turn black over them.
7Then the seers will be ashamed.
Those who tell the future will be disgraced.
They will all cover their mouths,
because there is no answer from God."a
8But as for me, I am filled with power
by the Spirit of the LORD.
I am filled with justice and courage.
So I can tell Jacob what he has done wrong.
I can tell Israel about his sin.
9Now listen to this, you leaders of the family of Jacob
and rulers of the family of Israel.
You hate justice.
You twist everything that is right.
10You build Zion by killing people.
You build Jerusalem by doing wrong.
11Her leaders judge for a bribe.
Her priests teach for a price.
Her prophets tell the future for money.
Yet they lean on the LORD and say,
"Isn't the LORD with us?
No disaster can happen to us."
12So because of you,
Zion will be plowed like a field.
Jerusalem will become a pile of rubble.
The temple hill will be covered with trees.
