MicahChapter 2

1How terrible for those who plan wrong!
They lie in bed thinking up evil.
When morning comes, they do it,
because they have the power to do it. 2They want fields, so they grab them.
They want houses, so they take them.
They rob a man of his home.
They rob a person of the land his family passed down to him. 3So this is what the LORD says:
"I am planning disaster against this nation.
You will not be able to pull your necks free from it.
Then you will not walk around so proudly.
For it will be a time of trouble. 4On that day people will make up a saying about you.
They will make fun of you with this bitter, sad song:
'We are completely ruined!
He has given away my people's share of land.
How he has taken it from me!
He has handed our fields over to traitors.'" 5So none of you will be in the LORD's assembly
to divide up the land by casting lots. 6"Don't preach," their preachers say.
"Don't preach about these things.
Shame will not catch up with us." 7Family of Jacob, should people say,
"Is the Spirit of the LORD running out of patience?
Does he really do things like this?"
Don't my words do good
for the one who lives an honest life? 8But lately my people have risen up like an enemy.
You tear the fine robes off people passing by.
They thought they were safe,
like men coming home from a war. 9You drive the women of my people
out of the homes they love.
You take my blessing
away from their children forever. 10Get up and leave!
This is not your place to rest.
It has been made unclean, and that brings ruin,
a terrible ruin! 11Suppose a man full of empty talk came and lied,
"I will preach to you about wine and beer."
He would be just the right preacher for these people! 12Jacob, I will surely gather all of you.
I will bring together those left of Israel.
I will bring them together like sheep in a pen,
like a flock in its field.
There will be a noisy crowd of people. 13The one who breaks open the way will go up ahead of them.
They will break through the gate and go out.
Their King will go through ahead of them.
The LORD will lead them.
