1"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters.
You who have no money, come, buy, and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost!
2Why spend money on what is not bread?
Why work hard for what does not fill you up?
Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good.
Then your soul will enjoy the richest food.
3Turn your ear and come to me.
Listen, so that your soul may live.
I will make a covenant with you that lasts forever.
It is the faithful love I promised to David.
4Look, I made him a witness to the nations.
I made him a leader and commander of the peoples.
5You will call nations you do not know.
Nations that do not know you will run to you.
This is because of the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel.
He has given you glory."
6Look for the LORD while he may be found.
Call on him while he is near.
7Let the wicked person leave his way of life.
Let the evil person leave his evil thoughts.
Let him turn back to the LORD,
and the LORD will have mercy on him.
Let him turn to our God,
for he will freely forgive.
8"For my thoughts are not your thoughts.
And your ways are not my ways,"
says the LORD.
9"The heavens are higher than the earth.
In the same way, my ways are higher than your ways.
My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.
10The rain and snow come down from the sky.
They do not go back without watering the earth.
They make plants bud and grow.
They give seed to plant and food to eat.
11In the same way, the word that goes out of my mouth
will not come back to me empty.
It will do what I want.
It will succeed in what I send it to do.
12You will go out with joy.
You will be led out in peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song before you.
All the trees of the field will clap their hands.
13Cypress trees will grow where thornbushes grew.
Myrtle trees will grow where weeds grew.
This will bring honor to the LORD's name.
It will be a sign that lasts forever.
It will never be destroyed."
