HebrewsChapter 3

1So, holy brothers and sisters, you share in the call that comes from heaven. Keep your thoughts on Jesus. He is the apostle and high priest we confess. 2Jesus was faithful to God, who chose him. Moses was faithful in all God's house in the same way. 3Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house gets more honor than the house itself. 4Every house is built by someone. But God is the builder of everything. 5Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house. He pointed to things God would say later. 6But Christ is faithful as the Son who is over God's house. And we are his house. That is true if we hold tight to our courage and the hope we are proud of. 7So listen to what the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice, 8don't make your hearts hard. Don't be like your people when they rebelled. That was the day they tested me in the wilderness. 9There your ancestors tested me and tried my patience. They saw the things I did for 40 years. 10So I was angry with the people of that time. I said, 'Their hearts are always wandering away. They have not known my ways.' 11So in my anger I swore an oath. I said, 'They will never enter my rest.'" 12Brothers and sisters, be careful. Don't let any of you have an evil heart that doesn't believe. That kind of heart turns away from the living God. 13Instead, encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called "Today." Then none of you will be fooled by sin and become hard. 14We have come to share in Christ. That is true if we hold tight to the end to the trust we had at first. 15As Scripture says, "Today, if you hear his voice, don't make your hearts hard as you did when you rebelled." 16Who heard God's voice and still rebelled? It was all the people Moses led out of Egypt. 17And who was God angry with for 40 years? It was the people who sinned. Their bodies fell dead in the wilderness. 18And who did God swear would never enter his rest? It was those who disobeyed. 19So we see that they couldn't enter because they didn't believe.
