1But God remembered Noah. He remembered all the wild animals and farm animals with him in the ark. God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to go down. 2The springs of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were closed. The rain stopped falling from the sky. 3The waters kept going down from the earth. After 150 days the waters had gone down. 4On the 17th day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. 5The waters kept going down until the tenth month. On the first day of the tenth month, the tops of the mountains could be seen. 6After forty days, Noah opened the window he had made in the ark. 7He sent out a raven. It kept flying back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth. 8Then Noah sent out a dove. He wanted to see if the waters had gone down from the ground. 9But the dove found no place to rest her feet. She came back to Noah in the ark, because water still covered the whole earth. So he reached out his hand and took her back inside the ark. 10Noah waited seven more days. Then he sent the dove out from the ark again. 11In the evening the dove came back to him. Look! In her beak was an olive leaf she had just picked. Then Noah knew that the waters had gone down from the earth. 12Noah waited seven more days and sent out the dove again. But this time she did not come back to him. 13By the first day of the first month of Noah's 601st year, the waters had dried up from the earth. Noah took the covering off the ark. He looked out and saw that the ground was dry. 14By the 27th day of the second month, the earth was completely dry. 15Then God said to Noah, 16"Come out of the ark. Bring your wife, your sons, and their wives with you. 17Bring out every living creature that is with you. Bring out the birds, the farm animals, and everything that crawls on the ground. Then they can spread out over the earth. They can have many young and grow in number on it." 18So Noah came out. His sons, his wife, and his sons' wives came out with him. 19Every living creature came out of the ark, one kind after another. Every creeping thing, every bird, and everything that moves on the earth came out. 20Then Noah built an altar to the LORD. He took some of every kind of clean animal and clean bird. He offered them as burnt offerings on the altar. 21The LORD smelled the pleasing smell. And he said in his heart, "I will never again curse the ground because of man. I won't do it even though every plan of man's heart is evil from the time he is young. And I will never again destroy all living creatures as I have done. 22As long as the earth lasts,
planting time and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never stop."
