1Then the man led me out north into the outer court. He brought me to the group of rooms across from the temple courtyard and across from the outer wall on the north side. 2The building with the door facing north was 175 feet long and about 88 feet wide.a 3Balcony faced balcony on three levels. They were across from the 35-foot space that belonged to the inner court. They were also across from the pavement that belonged to the outer court.b 4In front of the rooms was an inner walkway. It was 17 1/2 feet wide and 175 feet long. Their doors were on the north side.c 5The upper rooms were smaller. This is because the balconies took more space from them than from the rooms on the lower and middle floors of the building. 6The rooms were built in three stories. They had no pillars like the courts had. So the upper rooms were set farther back than the lower and middle floors. 7An outer wall stood in front of the rooms. It was about 88 feet long. It ran alongside the rooms and the outer court.d 8The rooms beside the outer court were about 88 feet long. The rooms facing the temple were 175 feet long.e 9Below these rooms was an entrance on the east side. It was where you go in from the outer court. 10On the south side there were rooms along the length of the wall of the outer court. They were next to the courtyard and across from the building. 11There was a walkway in front of them, just like the rooms on the north. They were just as long and wide. They had the same kind of exits and were the same size. 12There were doors to the rooms facing south. To match them, there was a door at the start of the walkway. The walkway ran alongside the wall that went east. 13Then the man said to me, "The north and south rooms facing the temple courtyard are the holy rooms. That is where the priests who come near the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. They will put the most holy offerings there. These are the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings. For the place is holy. 14When the priests go into the holy area, they must not go out to the outer court right away. First they must leave behind the clothes they wear when they serve, because these clothes are holy. They must put on other clothes before they go near the places for the people." 15The man finished measuring the inside of the temple area. Then he led me out through the gate that faced east. He measured the area all around. 16He measured the east side with the measuring rod. It was 875 feet long.f 17He measured the north side. It was 875 feet long.g 18He measured the south side. It was 875 feet long.h 19Then he turned and measured the west side. It was 875 feet long.i 20So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all around it, 875 feet long and 875 feet wide. The wall separated what was holy from what was common.j
