1Then the man brought me into the outer sanctuary. He measured the side pillars. They were 10 1/2 feet wide on each side.a 2The entrance was 17 1/2 feet wide. The walls on each side of the entrance were about 9 feet wide. He also measured the outer sanctuary. It was 70 feet long and 35 feet wide.b 3Then he went into the inner sanctuary. He measured the side pillars at the entrance. They were 3 1/2 feet wide. The entrance was 10 1/2 feet wide. The walls on each side were about 12 feet wide.c 4Then he measured the room next to the inner sanctuary. It was 35 feet long and 35 feet wide. He said to me, "This is the Most Holy Place."d 5Next he measured the wall of the temple. It was 10 1/2 feet thick. Each side room around the temple was 7 feet wide.e 6The side rooms were built one above another, in three levels. Each level had thirty rooms. There were ledges all around the wall of the temple to hold up the side rooms. That way the supports would not be fastened into the temple wall itself. 7The side rooms around the temple got wider at each higher level. This is because the temple wall got thinner as it went up, step by step. A stairway went up from the lowest floor to the top floor, through the middle one. 8I saw that the temple had a raised base all around it. It was the foundation of the side rooms. It was a full rod high, about 10 1/2 feet.f 9The outer wall of the side rooms was about 9 feet thick. There was an open area between the side rooms of the templeg 10and the outer rooms. It was 35 feet wide all around the temple.h 11The side rooms had doors that opened onto this area. One door was on the north and one was on the south. The open area was about 9 feet wide all around.i 12There was a building facing the temple courtyard on the west side. It was about 122 feet wide. Its wall was about 9 feet thick all around. It was about 158 feet long.j 13Then he measured the temple. It was 175 feet long. The temple courtyard and the building with its walls were also 175 feet long.k 14The temple courtyard on the east, along with the front of the temple, was 175 feet wide.l 15Next he measured the building facing the courtyard at the back of the temple. He included its balconies on each side. It was 175 feet long. The outer sanctuary, the inner sanctuary, and the porches facing the courtm 16were covered with wood on all sides. So were the thresholds, the narrow windows, and the balconies all around with their three levels across from the threshold. They had wood panels from the floor up to the windows. The windows were covered. 17There were carvings above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary. They were on all the walls, spaced evenly all around the inner and outer sanctuary. 18The carvings were cherubim and palm trees, one after the other. Each cherub had two faces. 19A man's face looked toward the palm tree on one side. A young lion's face looked toward the palm tree on the other side. They were carved all the way around the temple. 20Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the outer sanctuary. They went from the floor to the space above the entrance. 21The outer sanctuary had a doorframe with four sides. The doorframe of the sanctuary looked the same. 22There was an altar made of wood. It was about 5 feet high and 3 1/2 feet on each side. Its corners, base, and sides were made of wood. The man told me, "This is the table that stands before the LORD."n 23The outer sanctuary and the inner sanctuary each had double doors. 24Each door had two panels that swung open. There were two panels for one door and two for the other. 25Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the doors of the outer sanctuary, like those on the walls. There was a wooden roof over the front of the porch outside. 26There were narrow windows and palm trees on the side walls of the porch. The side rooms of the temple also had roofs over them.
