1"Now you, son of man, prophesy against Gog. Say that this is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. 2I will turn you around and drive you forward. I will bring you up from the far north. I will send you against the mountains of Israel. 3Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand. I will make the arrows drop from your right hand. 4You will fall on the mountains of Israel. You and all your troops and the nations with you will fall. I will give you as food to every kind of hungry bird and wild animal. 5You will fall in the open field. For I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD. 6I will send fire on Magog and on those who live safely along the coasts. Then they will know that I am the LORD. 7So I will make my holy name known among my people Israel. I will not let it be dishonored anymore. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. 8Yes, it is coming! It will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD. This is the day I have spoken about. 9Then the people who live in the cities of Israel will go out. They will light fires and burn up the weapons. They will burn the small and large shields, the bows and arrows, and the clubs and spears. They will use them as fuel for seven years. 10They will not need to gather wood from the fields or cut it from the forests. They will use the weapons for fuel. They will rob those who robbed them. They will take from those who took from them, declares the Lord GOD. 11On that day I will give Gog a place to be buried in Israel. It will be the Valley of the Travelers, east of the Sea. It will block the way of those who travel through. For Gog and all his crowds of soldiers will be buried there. So it will be called the Valley of Hamon-gog.a 12The people of Israel will spend seven months burying them. They will do it to make the land clean. 13All the people of the land will bury them. It will bring them honor on the day I show my glory, declares the Lord GOD. 14Men will be hired to keep going through the land to make it clean. They will bury the invaders who are still lying on the ground. They will start their search at the end of the seven months. 15They will go through the land. Anyone who sees a human bone will set up a marker next to it. It will stay there until the gravediggers bury it in the Valley of Hamon-gog. 16(A city will also be named Hamonah there.) In this way they will make the land clean.b 17And you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of bird and every wild animal. Say, 'Gather together! Come from all around to the sacrifice I am preparing for you. It is a great feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood. 18You will eat the flesh of mighty men. You will drink the blood of the princes of the earth. It will be as if they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls, all fattened animals from Bashan. 19At the sacrifice I am preparing for you, you will eat fat until you are stuffed. You will drink blood until you are drunk. 20At my table you will eat all you want of horses and riders. You will eat mighty men and every kind of soldier,' declares the Lord GOD. 21I will show my glory among the nations. All the nations will see how I judge. They will see the hand I lay on them. 22From that day on, the people of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God. 23And the nations will know why the people of Israel went into exile. It was because of their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them. I handed them over to their enemies, and they all died by the sword. 24I dealt with them as their uncleanness and their wrongs deserved. I hid my face from them. 25So this is what the Lord GOD says: Now I will bring Jacob back from captivity. I will show mercy to all the people of Israel. I will be jealous for my holy name. 26They will forget their shame and all the ways they betrayed me. This will happen when they live safely in their land, with no one to make them afraid. 27I will bring them back from the peoples. I will gather them out of the lands of their enemies. Then I will show my holiness through them while many nations watch. 28Then they will know that I am the LORD their God. They will know it when I gather them again to their own land. I sent them into exile among the nations, but I will not leave any of them behind. 29I will no longer hide my face from them. For I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Lord GOD."
