1Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us. Pray that the Lord's message will spread fast and be honored, just as it was with you. 2And pray that we will be rescued from wicked and evil people. For not everyone has faith. 3But the Lord is faithful. He will make you strong and guard you from the evil one. 4We trust in the Lord about you. We are sure you are doing what we tell you. And we are sure you will keep doing it. 5May the Lord lead your hearts into God's love and into the way Christ kept going. 6Brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Stay away from any brother who lives a lazy, careless life. That kind of life does not follow the teaching you got from us. 7You know very well how you should follow our example, because we were not lazy or careless when we were with you. 8We did not eat anyone's food without paying for it. Instead, we worked hard and long. We worked night and day so we would not be a load on any of you. 9It's not that we had no right to your help. But we wanted to give you an example to follow. 10Even when we were with you, we gave you this command: "If anyone is not willing to work, he should not eat." 11We hear that some of you are living lazy, careless lives. They are not doing any work. Instead, they are busy poking into other people's business. 12We command such people, and we urge them by our Lord Jesus Christ, to settle down and work. They should earn the food they eat. 13But as for you, brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. 14Watch out for anyone who does not obey what we say in this letter. Point that person out. Do not spend time with him, so that he will feel ashamed. 15But do not treat him like an enemy. Warn him like a brother. 16Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. May the Lord be with all of you. 17I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. This is my sign in every letter. This is how I write. 18May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.
