1The LORD of Hosts gave me another message. He said: 2This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "I am jealous for Zion with great passion. I am burning with jealousy for her." 3This is what the LORD says: "I will come back to Zion. I will live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth. The mountain of the LORD of Hosts will be called the Holy Mountain." 4This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "Old men and old women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem. Each of them will hold a walking stick because they are so old. 5And the city streets will be full of boys and girls playing there." 6This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "If this seems impossible to the people who are left in these days, should it also seem impossible to me?" says the LORD of Hosts. 7This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "I will save my people from the lands of the east and from the lands of the west. 8I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem. They will be my people. And I will be their God, faithful and righteous." 9This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "Let your hands be strong! You are now hearing the words of the prophets. These prophets were there when the foundation was laid to rebuild the temple, the house of the LORD of Hosts. 10Before that time, no one was paid for work, and no animal was paid for its work either. No one who came or went was safe from the enemy. For I had turned everyone against his neighbor. 11But now I will not treat the people who are left the way I did in the past," says the LORD of Hosts. 12"The seeds will grow well. The vine will give its fruit. The ground will give its crops. The sky will give its dew. I will give all these things to the people who are left. They will be theirs to keep. 13House of Judah and house of Israel, just as you have been a curse among the nations, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Let your hands be strong." 14For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: "Just as I decided to bring disaster on you when your ancestors made me angry, and I did not change my mind," says the LORD of Hosts, 15"so now I have decided to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid. 16These are the things you must do. Tell each other the truth. In your courts at the city gates, judge in ways that are true and fair. 17Do not make evil plans in your hearts against your neighbor. Do not love to make false promises. For I hate all these things," says the LORD. 18Then the LORD of Hosts gave me this message: 19"This is what the LORD of Hosts says: The people of Judah fast in the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months. But those fasts will become times of joy and gladness. They will be happy feasts. So love truth and peace." 20This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "Peoples will still come. People from many cities will come. 21The people of one city will go to another city and say, 'Let's go right away to ask the LORD for his favor. Let's go to seek the LORD of Hosts. I'm going myself.' 22Many peoples and strong nations will come to Jerusalem. They will come to seek the LORD of Hosts and to ask the LORD for his favor." 23This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "In those days ten men from nations of every language will hold tight to the robe of a Jew. They will say, 'Let us go with you. We have heard that God is with you.'"
