1This is Solomon's Song of Songs. 2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!
For your love is sweeter than wine.
3Your perfume smells so good.
Your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder the young women love you!
4Take me away with you. Let's hurry!
May the king bring me into his rooms.
We will be glad and full of joy in you.
We will praise your love more than wine.
It is right that they love you.
5I am dark, but I am lovely,
you daughters of Jerusalem.
I am dark like the tents of Kedar.
I am lovely like the curtains of Solomon.
6Don't stare at me because I am dark.
The sun has looked down on me.
My mother's sons were angry with me.
They made me take care of the vineyards.
But I have not cared for my own vineyard.
7Tell me, you whom I love,
where do you feed your sheep?
Where do you let them rest at noon?
Why should I be like a woman with a veil
beside the flocks of your friends?
8If you don't know, most beautiful of women,
follow the tracks of the flock.
Let your young goats eat grass
near the tents of the shepherds.
9My darling, you are like a mare
among the chariots of Pharaoh.
10Your cheeks look lovely with jewelry.
Your neck looks lovely with strings of jewels.
11We will make you jewelry of gold,
with small beads of silver on it.
12While the king was at his table,
the smell of my perfume filled the air.
13My beloved is like a little bag of myrrh to me.
He rests between my breasts.
14My beloved is like a bunch of henna flowers to me,
in the vineyards of En-gedi.
15How beautiful you are, my darling!
Oh, you are so beautiful!
Your eyes are like doves.
16How handsome you are, my beloved!
Oh, you are so lovely!
The soft green grass is our bed.
17The beams of our house are cedars.
Our roof boards are sweet-smelling fir trees.
