1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple. It said to the seven angels, "Go! Pour out the seven bowls of God's anger on the earth." 2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth. Ugly, painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. 3The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea. The sea turned into blood like the blood of a dead person. Every living thing in the sea died. 4The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water. They turned into blood. 5Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:
"You are righteous, Holy One.
You are the one who is and who was.
You are righteous because you have judged like this.
6For they spilled the blood of your people and your prophets.
And you have given them blood to drink,
as they deserve."
7And I heard the altar answer:
"Yes, Lord God Almighty,
your judgments are true and fair."
8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun. The sun was allowed to burn people with fire. 9People were burned by the terrible heat. They cursed the name of God, who had power over these plagues. But they would not repent and give him glory. 10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast. Its kingdom was thrown into darkness. People chewed their tongues because of the pain. 11They cursed the God of heaven because of their pain and their sores. But they would not turn away from what they had done. 12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River. Its water dried up. This made the way ready for the kings from the East. 13Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs. They came out of the mouth of the dragon, the mouth of the beast, and the mouth of the false prophet. 14They are spirits of demons that do signs. They go out to all the kings of the earth. They gather the kings for battle on the great day of God Almighty. 15"Look, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes on. Then he will not have to walk around naked and have his shame seen." 16Then the spirits gathered the kings together. They gathered them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. 17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. A loud voice came from the throne in the temple. It said, "It is done!" 18Then there were flashes of lightning, rumbling sounds, and claps of thunder. There was a great earthquake. There had never been one like it since people have lived on the earth. It was that powerful. 19The great city split into three parts. The cities of the nations fell down. God remembered Babylon the great. He made her drink the cup filled with the wine of his fierce anger. 20Every island ran away. The mountains could not be found. 21Huge hailstones fell on people from the sky. Each one weighed almost a hundred pounds. People cursed God for the plague of hail, because it was so terrible.
