1Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was wrapped in a cloud. A rainbow was over his head. His face was like the sun. His legs were like pillars of fire. 2He held a small scroll in his hand. It was open. He put his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land. 3Then he gave a loud shout like a lion's roar. When he shouted, the seven thunders spoke with their voices. 4When the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write it down. But I heard a voice from heaven. It said, "Seal up what the seven thunders said. Do not write it down." 5Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand toward heaven. 6He made a promise by the one who lives forever and ever. God made heaven and all that is in it. He made the earth and all that is in it. He made the sea and all that is in it. The angel said, "There will be no more waiting! 7The seventh angel is about to blow his trumpet. In the days when he does, the secret plan of God will be finished. It will happen just as God told his servants the prophets." 8Then the voice I had heard from heaven spoke to me again. It said, "Go and take the small scroll. It is lying open in the hand of the angel standing on the sea and on the land." 9So I went to the angel. I said, "Give me the small scroll." He said, "Take it and eat it. It will make your stomach bitter. But in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey." 10So I took the small scroll from the angel's hand and ate it. In my mouth it was as sweet as honey. But when I had eaten it, my stomach turned bitter. 11Then I was told, "You must prophesy again. You must speak about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings."
