1For the music leader. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. He wrote it when the Ziphites went to Saul and said, "Isn't David hiding among us?"
God, save me by your name.
Show that I am in the right by your power!
2God, hear my prayer.
Listen to the words of my mouth.
3For strangers rise up against me.
Cruel men want to kill me.
They do not care about God. Selah
4God is surely my helper.
The Lord is the one who keeps my soul going.
5He will pay my enemies back with evil.
Because you are faithful, destroy them.
6I will gladly bring a sacrifice to you.
LORD, I will praise your name, for it is good.
7For he has rescued me from every trouble.
My eyes have looked down on my enemies in victory.
