¹A psalm of David. He wrote it when he acted like he was insane in front of Abimelech. So the king drove him away.
I will bless the LORD at all times.
My lips will always praise him. ²My soul brags about the LORD.
Let those who are crushed down hear it and be glad. ³Come, tell how great the LORD is with me.
Let's lift up his name together. ⁴I looked for the LORD, and he answered me.
He set me free from all my fears. ⁵Those who look to him shine with joy.
Their faces will never be put to shame. ⁶This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him.
He saved him from all his troubles. ⁷The angel of the LORD camps all around those who fear the LORD.
And he rescues them. ⁸Taste and see that the LORD is good.
Blessed is the man who runs to him to be safe! ⁹Fear the LORD, you his holy people.
For those who fear him do not lack anything. ¹⁰Young lions may go without and be hungry.
But those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. ¹¹Come, children, listen to me.
I will teach you the fear of the LORD. ¹²Who is the man who loves life?
Who wants to see good days? ¹³Keep your tongue from evil.
Keep your lips from telling lies. ¹⁴Turn away from evil and do good.
Look for peace and go after it. ¹⁵The eyes of the LORD are on those who do right.
His ears are turned to hear their cry. ¹⁶But the LORD sets his face against those who do evil.
He will wipe out all memory of them from the earth. ¹⁷Those who do right cry out, and the LORD hears.
He rescues them from all their troubles. ¹⁸The LORD is near to those whose hearts are broken.
He saves those whose spirits are crushed and sorry. ¹⁹The one who does right has many troubles.
But the LORD rescues him from them all. ²⁰He keeps all his bones safe.
Not one of them will be broken. ²¹Evil will kill the wicked.
Those who hate the one who does right will be judged guilty. ²²The LORD redeems his servants.
No one who runs to him to be safe will be judged guilty.
