1Of David. A Maskil.
Blessed is the one whose wrongs are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.a 2Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him,
whose spirit does not try to fool anyone. 3When I kept silent,
my bones became weak from my groaning all day long. 4For day and night your hand pressed down on me.
My strength dried up like in the summer heat.
Selah 5Then I told you about my sin.
I did not hide my wrong.
I said, "I will confess my sins to the LORD."
And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah 6So let all who are faithful to you pray to you
while you may still be found.
Surely when great floods rise up,
they will not reach them. 7You are my hiding place.
You keep me safe from trouble.
You surround me with songs about how you save.
Selah 8I will teach you and show you the way you should go.
I will give you advice and watch over you. 9Do not be like the horse or the mule.
They do not understand.
They must be controlled with a bit and bridle
to make them come to you. 10The wicked have many sorrows.
But faithful love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD. 11Be glad in the LORD and full of joy, you who do right!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are honest!
