1A psalm. A song for the dedication of the temple. Of David.
I will praise you as great, LORD.
For you have lifted me up.
You have not let my enemies be glad over me. 2LORD my God, I cried to you for help,
and you healed me. 3LORD, you pulled me up from the grave.
You kept me from going down into the Pit.a 4Sing to the LORD, all you his people.
Praise his holy name. 5For his anger lasts only a moment.
But his kindness lasts a lifetime.
Crying may last through the night,
but joy comes in the morning. 6When things were going well, I said,
"Nothing will ever shake me." 7LORD, you were kind to me.
You made my mountain stand strong.
But when you hid your face, I was terrified. 8I called to you, LORD.
I begged my Lord for mercy. 9I said, "What good will come if I die,
if I go down into the Pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell how faithful you are? 10Hear me, LORD, and be kind to me.
LORD, be my helper." 11You turned my crying into dancing.
You took off my sackcloth and dressed me with joy, 12so that my heart may sing your praises and not be quiet.
LORD my God, I will thank you forever.
