1For the choir leader. A psalm of David.
The heavens tell about the glory of God.
The skies show what his hands have made. 2Day after day they pour out speech.
Night after night they show what they know. 3They have no speech or words.
No sound is heard from them. 4Yet their voice has gone out into all the earth.
Their words have gone to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has set up a tent for the sun. 5The sun is like a groom coming out of his room.
It is like a strong runner who is glad to run his race. 6It rises at one end of the heavens.
It travels all the way to the other end.
Nothing is hidden from its heat. 7The Law of the LORD is perfect.
It gives new life to the soul.
What the LORD says can be trusted.
It makes simple people wise. 8The rules of the LORD are right.
They bring joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD shine bright.
They give light to the eyes. 9The fear of the LORD is pure.
It lasts forever.
The judgments of the LORD are true.
They are all completely right. 10They are worth more than gold,
even lots of pure gold.
They are sweeter than honey,
even honey straight from the comb. 11Your servant is warned by them.
There is a great reward for keeping them. 12Who can see his own mistakes?
Make me clean from my hidden faults. 13Keep your servant from sins I choose to do.
Do not let them rule over me.
Then I will be without blame.
I will be clean from great sin. 14May the words of my mouth
and the thoughts of my heart please you,
LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
