1I love the LORD, for he has heard my voice.
He heard me when I begged for mercy.
2He has turned his ear to me.
So I will call on him as long as I live.
3The ropes of death were wrapped around me.
The pain of the grave took hold of me.
I was faced with trouble and sorrow.a
4Then I called on the name of the LORD:
"O LORD, save my life!"
5The LORD is kind and righteous.
Our God is full of mercy.
6The LORD protects people who are simple.
I was helpless, and he saved me.
7Go back to your rest, O my soul,
for the LORD has been good to you.
8For you have saved my life from death.
You kept my eyes from tears and my feet from stumbling.
9I will walk before the LORD
in the land of the living.
10I believed, so I said,
"I am suffering very much."
11In my fear I said,
"Everyone is a liar!"
12How can I pay the LORD back
for all the good he has done for me?
13I will lift up the cup of salvation.
I will call on the name of the LORD.
14I will keep my promises to the LORD
in front of all his people.
15The death of his faithful people
is precious in the eyes of the LORD.
16Truly, O LORD, I am your servant.
I am your servant, the son of your female servant.
You have set me free from my chains.
17I will offer you a sacrifice of thanks.
I will call on the name of the LORD.
18I will keep my promises to the LORD
in front of all his people,
19in the courtyards of the LORD's house,
in the middle of you, O Jerusalem.
Hallelujah!
