1Wisdom has built her house.
She has carved out its seven pillars.
2She has cooked her meat and mixed her wine.
She has also set her table.
3She has sent out her servant girls.
She calls out from the highest places in the city.
4"Let all who are simple come in here!"
She says this to those who have no sense.
5"Come, eat my bread.
Drink the wine I have mixed.
6Leave your foolish ways behind, and you will live.
Walk in the way of understanding."
7Whoever corrects a mocker brings shame on himself.
Whoever warns a wicked man brings a stain on himself.
8Don't correct a mocker, or he will hate you.
Correct a wise man, and he will love you.
9Teach a wise man, and he will become even wiser.
Teach a man who does right, and he will learn more.
10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.
Knowing the Holy One is understanding.
11For through wisdom you will live many days.
Years will be added to your life.
12If you are wise, it will help you.
But if you mock, you alone will suffer for it.
13The woman named Folly is loud.
She is foolish and knows nothing.
14She sits at the door of her house.
She sits on a seat in the highest places of the city.
15She calls out to those who pass by.
They are going straight along their way.
16"Let all who are simple come in here!"
She says this to those who have no sense.
17"Stolen water is sweet!
Food eaten in secret tastes good!"
18But they don't know that the dead are there.
Her guests are deep in the grave.a
